Corsair K70 LUX vs Razer Blackwidow X

let’s take a look at how these two keyboards stack up first of all I have to say that for the purpose of my comparison I will be using a Corsair K 65 luxe which is just the 10 keyless version of the K 70 luxe the K 65 does lack some of the media keys of the K 70 which I will point out when it’s appropriate aesthetically both keyboards do not have a top plate which exposes the base of the mechanical switches Corsairs keyboards feature a brushed aluminum backplate with clear switch bodies which let the light permeate the entire switch this makes for a really cool lighting effect across the board it also makes your keyboard stand out more when looking at it across the room I personally like the clear switch bodies much better it makes the top plateless design make a lot more sense and it makes it more pleasing to look at razor’s Black Widow ex has black switch bodies with the LED mounted behind the switch their top plate is also a military-grade metal with a matte finish I much prefer the backplate of the Black Widow ex however the black switches aren’t as nice to look at as Corsairs the Corsair keyboards feature an included removable wrist rest two sets of textured key caps WASD for FPS and QW ERDF for MOBAs Corsair is now using the same key caps as they did on the strafe so you get a more gamer style font I will say that I really don’t like the diamond plate textured space bar but that can be changed out the Corsair luxe keyboards also come with a USB pass-through which was something that was missing from the original k70 and lastly the k70 also comes with dedicated media keys with a volume scroll wheel as well as a button to toggle on the three brightness settings unfortunately all of these features are not present in the Black Widow ex what the Black Widow ex does have going for it is that it has tactile switches the locks line of keyboards from Corsair currently only comes in Cherry MX red in fact most Corsair boards have been out of blue for some time I can’t say for sure but I’m pretty sure that I heard that there was an issue with the Blues production for a while whatever the reason the Lux keyboards are listed as having the option for Browns in blues however they are unavailable the Razer green recently got a bit of an overhaul as it changed production from kyla it’s not a hundred percent for sure but there have been images floating around the internet that gray tech is the new manufacturer of Razer green switches whether it’s completely in-house which I’ve also read or made by gree tech the quality is undeniably better for the sound test of the original Kyllo switch versus the new one check out episode 1 of my series which is best now that all that’s out of the way if you are indeed in the market for a mechanical keyboard with tactile switches especially if you like cherry MX blues you will not be disappointed in the performance of the new Razer green switch I’m still using my Black Widow ex as my daily driver for this reason even now here’s a sound test of the Razer green switch in the Black Widow X and the Cherry MX read in the corsair lux keyboards if you had asked me how these keyboards stacked up before the release of the rapid-fire and Lux versions I would have said it was pretty close however with the release of the rapid-fire and subsequently the Lux it’s incredibly clear that the Corsair k70 Lux outclasses the black widow X in terms of features in almost every way to make this easier let’s talk about what razer does better I like the backplate on the Black Widow X much better than the lux I also love the Razer green switch on my old Black Widow I hated how terrible the consistency was but with this one it’s flawless the LEDs also seem to achieve better colors on the Black Widow although the LEDs on the Corsair have a lot more exposure making them look really nice the Black Widow X is a solid keyboard I still use mine as my daily driver I absolutely love the feel of the Razer green switch if I can get my hands on a k7 t Lux with blues or maybe Browns though I’m probably going to switch the k7 deluxe absolutely hits it out of the park it is absolutely everything we want in a keyboard when you consider the fact that they both cost the same at one it’s really hard not to recommend the corsair k70 luxe over the Black Widow ex.
