I don’t know how many times I’ve looked at a new mechanical keyboard and found that it had almost everything that I wanted but there always seems to be that one thing that I wish I could add or change to make it perfect,
Corsair K70 LUX RGB Mechanical Keyboard Review
Corsair’s flagship keyboard recently got a bit of an overhaul with the release of the k70 rapid-fire and luxe versions but what exactly is the difference between the K 70 and the K 70 Lux or rapid-fire let’s take a look since its introduction in 2014 the k70 RGB has been largely regarded as the best RGB mechanical keyboard on the market thanks to its solid design and quality Cherry MX switches so how do you improve on a tried-and-true design like the K 70 you listen to your customers that’s what you do let’s talk about the difference between the rapid fire and the lux version what makes the rapid fire unique is that it has Cherry MX speed switches which are basically Cherry MX Reds with an actuation distance of one point two millimeters not everyone likes linear switches or perhaps is not interested in the new speed switch this is where the lux comes in the K 70 Lux offers all the same updated features of the rapid-fire but instead of the speed switches comes in Cherry MX red brown or blue when you first look at the K 70 Lux you will notice that like the original k70 RGB the luck still comes with a nice professional-looking brushed aluminum backplate unlike the original K 70 the K seven deluxe sports the same large font key caps that we have seen from the Corsair strafe the large lettering certainly helps show off the RGB lighting of this keyboard the K 70 Lux also has a textured space bar I’m not particularly a huge fan of this but it’s something that can be easily changed out with an aftermarket key cap set the lux features full sixteen point eight million color per key illumination and has a hundred-percent anti-ghosting with full key rollover Corsairs RGB mechanical keyboards use the cherry MX RGB switches which feature clear switch bodies that make for a really cool lighting effect create a nice illumination of the keycaps of course one big advantage of this is the ability to choose the style of switch you like the most I prefer the Cherry MX brown switch as it gives me the tactile feel of blues but isn’t loud enough to annoy my family or bleed into the mic when I record gameplay videos or stream you may notice the Corsair did away with that ugly tramp stamp logo at the top of the board and replaced it with the much nicer sales logo the k7 deluxe still features a full set of media keys including a volume scroll wheel this keyboard also includes a button that you can use to toggle the keyboards three brightness settings as well as a button to toggle gaming mode which disables the windows key so you don’t accidentally hit them and get yourself killed while you play this keyboard comes with a nice braided cable that splits off into two USB connectors it would be nice to have seen some premium quality gold plated connectors and I’m not a big fan of how large they made the USB connectors but in the end that’s really not that big of a deal if you’re wondering why this keyboard would need two USB connectors it’s because Corsair finally added a USB pass-through to the back of the keyboard this is something that users have been asking for and really in my opinion should be standard in any high-end keyboard so thanks Corsair the underside of the keyboard sports four large rubber pads to ensure your keyboard doesn’t slide over the desk during intense gaming sessions there’s also four extendable legs two at the front in two at the back so you can adjust the keyboard to a level that’s comfortable for you speaking of comfort like all Corsair keyboards the k7 deluxe comes with a detachable wrist rest as an added touch Corsair now includes two sets of textured key caps just like the ones they included with the strafe keyboards you get a set of WASD key caps for your first-person shooters and a set of qw erdf for MOBAs they even throw in a key cap puller to make swapping out the key caps of Brees like I said before the Cherry MX brown switch is my favorite of the cherry switches so naturally that’s the one I chose for my k7 deluxe here’s a quick sound test of the Cherry MX brown with the retail price of the Corsair k70 Lux definitely comes in at a premium but what you get in return for your hard earned cash is a keyboard that gives you everything you could want I’ve gotten my hands on a ton of keyboards and I can honestly say that the k7 deluxe and subsequently the rapid-fire is the first keyboard that I haven’t found myself saying it’s a really good keyboard but it would be amazing if this board just had this one missing feature Corsairs current flagship keyboard has it all out of everything out there on the market today you won’t find a better value for your money .
