Acer Predator xb241yu bmiprz is a 1440 pixels g sync monitor that puts a very competitive price for a g sync monitor, making g sync a little more affordable with the benefits of 1440p as well as 24 inches monitor. 

Physical Aspects

Acer – predator xb241yu has a traditional stand similar to those we’ve already seen on the Acer Predator generation, with red feet sticking out from the bottom. The screen has slim bezels going all the way around the outside. The physical bezel itself is about 2mm, and with the screen bezel, it’s somewhere between 6 to 7 mm making it extremely slim. Acer predator xb241yu is super helpful in multi-monitor setup because of its slim bezels.

To keep things nice and clean, the bottom of the monitor has cable routing holes to route the cables through them. The monitor also has a 100 x 100 VESA amount on the back. The monitor also has pivot, tilt, swivel, and height adjustments to put the screen into full portrait mode. The backside has a matter finish with shiny Acer logo. There is another Acer Predator logo on the front side of the monitor.

Display Customization

You can overclock the display by going into the on-screen display options using the buttons on the monitor’s front and are easier to use and navigate. You have an adequate level of customization to get the brightness and color contrast to your liking. As you set the max refresh (165 Hz), boot the display, and then you can run it at overclocked 165 Hz. 

1080p on a 24-inch display is much more welcoming than it would be on a 27-inch display where you’d have to compensate for that lower resolution on a large display by increased anti-aliasing levels, and with a 24-inch display, you’re not going to see as much.

Testing

The Frame Skip test passed with flying colors making no issues of frame skipping. Acer predator xb241yu is a 24 inches 2560 x 1440 p monitor being more screen realistic than a 1080p display.

Backlight bleeding is not present at all on the monitor, even at the corners of the screen. White uniformity and color uniformity are also excellent on the panel, and everything is nicely even all the way across, and there is no color banding or gradient banding on the screen.

Being a one-millisecond response rate monitor, the ghosting test also went pretty well on Acer Predator xb241yu bmiprz. There was no significant ghosting or trailing on the display test.

If you’re concerned about the text being small on display or icons being too small, the screen is 1440p at 24 inches with 123 pixels per inch, making everything visible. Especially in gaming, the monitor has excellent performance giving higher pixel density, so even textures will seem a little crisper. You don’t need to be using a higher form of aliasing. Since it’s 24 inches, if you run into a performance bottleneck because of your GPU, some high-end games 1440p might not be able to keep up at ultra-settings, and you’d have to knock down the resolution at 1080p.

Ports

Taking the ports into view, we have a Display Port input, which is required for a high refresh rate of 1440p gaming and g sync technology. The monitor also has an HDMI input for the second hookup, but you won’t be able to get the benefits of g sync when using HDMI. The monitor also comes with 4 USB-3 ports to support your different devices. 

Features

The monitor has built-in blue light technology, which prevents the screen from hurting the user’s eyes. This blue light technology reduces eye strain making a sufficient long gaming experience for users.

The TN panel gives it a faster response rate than some IPS monitors using g sync technology. The TN panel here has one millisecond of response time. With such a high response rate, the device still doesn’t lag in colors or color shifting. The colors look absolutely fantastic on the TN panel. You might observe some color shifting when looking at extreme angles, but the shifting is very minimal.

So, if you’re using it as a gaming monitor and sit in front as it should be used, you’re not going to have any such color shifting issues.

Gaming on the one millisecond display with its lightning-fast response rate and the 165 Hz refresh rate with the g sync technology will give a tremendous gaming experience.

Playing Grand Theft Auto 5 Online gives a smooth level experience with a beautiful colorful display. Games like The Elder Scrolls Online or Total War Shotgun 2 also went pretty well, and there were no lags or frame drops experienced in the performance. PUBG PC faces some issues like frame dropping and micro stutter.

Buttons

Another good thing is that the buttons are in the front instead of being on the bottom so that you won’t have to tilt the screen or look all the way down to configure the buttons.

A small menu pops up on clicking the buttons directing the usage of each button on the screen so that the user knows each button’s function. The buttons easily allow you to preset the settings, including options like sound, volume, toggling between HDMI and DisplayPort Inputs, adjust brightness, Graphics, ECO, Sports, Racing, Action, Standard, Movie, or over the specified user. The main menu button allows adjusting to monitor color, contrast, brightness, and other settings. This saves the settings to one of the three gaming presets. Thus, the controls allow you to switch the settings and colors easily.

Installation

The installation is pretty easy and doesn’t take much time. You need to attach the base with the metal predator monitor stand, screw it, and then clip the monitor stand into VESA mount on back side of the monitor. There’s also a quick release button at the bottom of the monitor to release the monitor from its stand in order to dismantle it.

Speakers

The Acer predator xb241yu comes with two 2W integrated speakers at the backside with average sound quality. The speakers don’t have any button to balance the volume between low, medium, or high. To get crispier sound quality, you can fix other PC speakers.
